Pennsylvania's Digital School Districts Initiative seeks nothing less than to revolutionize education through the use of technology. In the past 10 years, the world of business has been drastically re-shaped and streamlined through the explosive growth of new technologies. Digital School Districts will enable Pennsylvania schools to mirror and build upon that success.

School districts across the Commonwealth were asked to submit proposals detailing how they would use technology to re-invent the way they delivered education. From these proposals, three districts were selected to serve as pilot programs — each receiving up to $2 million in funding.

These districts will serve as resource and demonstration centers — providing tangible examples of how technology can improve education, achieve cost savings, and deliver education in ways currently not imagined.

Digital School Districts represents a significant element of Pennsylvania's commitment to utilizing technology to improve education. Other elements include Link to Learn, CyberStart, and SciTech Scholarships.
